Science has determined you influence people as far as three degrees of connection from you. The farthest degree of separation between any two individuals is about six. This means you are powerful. Your daily actions transform your community and inevitably the world. That’s pretty amazing, isn’t it?
Our world is in crisis because of how most of us vote with our dollar. Workers who live in foreign countries make most of our cheap, mass-produced, products. Their labor laws, if they even exist, are terrible when compared to the USA. As a result, these workers are immensely underpaid, work long hours and endure harsh work conditions.
Can you imagine how these poor people feel after a day of this for work? When you buy these cheap, mass-produced products, you vote with your dollar to support jobs like this.
The good news is that you have an alternative choice when it comes to your dollar vote. It’s called conscious consumerism. It means to be mindful of social and environmental circumstances when shopping. It requires you to value quality over quantity, to educate yourself on where your products come from and to develop the less is more mentality. Should you choose to be a conscious consumer, the positive ripple effect will extend to the sixth degree. It will transform our world.
*P.S… Check out the Shoppe at Ebb n’ Flow. There are a variety of products like soap, paintings, jewelry, pottery and other items made by members of our community!
