I was scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed when I came across an image of a cracked telephone pole. It looked as if it had been crashed into. Someone, in a half-hearted way, had attempted to fix it with duct tape. It was now lopsided and drooping into the street. Although temporarily mended, it still seemed as if it would fall apart at any moment. There was a caption below the image. It read, “How well I am holding my life together right now”.
Let me be real with you for a moment. If your life resembles a cracked telephone pole mended with duct tape, you are not completely nourished.
Food is not the only thing that nourishes you.
Healthy and supportive relationships; a fulfilling career; inspiring hobbies; a safe and tranquil space to call home; a life purpose, and many more aspects of life are all essential nutrients. The more you lack these essential nutrients, the more malnourished you will be. Truthfully, I would not be on this Journey to OM if my telephone pole of a life were solid and centered in the ground.
I guess that’s my indirect way of saying I’m a malnourished Dietitian…eek!
Suffice it to say, I’m not sharing long-winded and overly dramatic stories of my personal woes here. Instead, I’d rather discuss the nutrition plan I’ve created to bring nourishment back to my life. My sincerest hope is that through following me on this journey, you might benefit from this plan. I hope you discover ways to nourish yourself that you never thought about before.
It is inevitable that you will feel like a cracked telephone pole hanging on for dear life at some point. If you so happen to feel this way now and you have stumbled upon this post, then welcome! I’d like to invite you to join me on my Journey to OM! :-)
The diet plan I’ve created is called the Life Reboot. I’ll share more about it in my next post. In the mean time, think about the essential nutrients in your life. Rate your overall nutrition status. On a scale of 1 to 10, how ‘malnourished’ are you?
