Jennifer is starting a Yoga journey. She would like to share her experience online with you! Follow her on our blog!
In Yoga, they say the sound OM is the sound of the Universe. OM is found in all major world religions. Each uses it to connect to a higher power. Small cultural and language distortions exist, but ultimately it is the same sound. OM is not something we create. OM is always present. But, by saying it we produce a vibration within ourselves equal to OM. This frequency connects us to OM and we feel a higher power within ourselves. We feel attuned. We sense a deep connection to the universe and each other.
Recently I went to a meeting at Ebb n’ Flow. The staff all met to discuss our roles at the studio. We were told to grab a cushion and gather together in a circle. Once the circle was created, Kim asked us to begin the meeting by letting out a long and drawn out OM. We followed our OM with a deep breath in and repeated this cycle a couple more times. When we stopped, I felt more centered and relaxed.
One of the other studio members, Joy, then began to lead us through an exercise. There were beautiful cards with different images on them she had sprinkled around the room. We were asked to find one that spoke to us. Once we found a card we were to return to our seat and reflect on it. We were encouraged to use it to find inspiration for our goals and commitments to the studio
I went around the room several times trying to find a card. I settled on a picture of a moon. When it was my turn to speak I told everyone that the moon was like Ebb n’ Flow and the rest of my life was like the sun. I’m constantly on the go and always restless with my thoughts. But, when I come to the studio I’m reminded to calm down, take life a bit slower, and enjoy the journey.
The studio has brought a balance to my life and introduced me to an amazing community. When asked what my personal goal was, I noted I would be taking the Yoga Teacher training course. It starts in May. I’m not sure if teaching Yoga is in my future, but I want to learn more about Yoga. I’m still new to it.
That brings me to my commitment to the Studio… The blog.
I want to make the blog a bit more focused. So I asked the group their thoughts on me creating an online journey with the readers as I learn more about Yoga. The idea was happily received. So here I go!
There are still a couple spots left for the training in May. If you want to come experience your own journey with me, think about signing up! It’s a two-year commitment. This will give us plenty of time to get to know each other and really dive deep into our own yoga practice. Yoga is great alone, but it’s even better with community.
Whether you are part of this journey online or in person, I want to say thank you. You allow me to write and I’ve always loved to write. Hopefully in return I can bring something back to you.
